Penthouse Exhaust

Penthouse applications are utilized when the majority of an exhaust fan system must be located within an enclosed building or walled structure. There are many forms that a penthouse exhaust fan application can be designed for. The most common of these would have the plenum and fan housing located on the mezzanine floor and then a transition spool piece leading from the fan housing to the nozzle located on top of the roof line. However, depending on the allowable height within the penthouse, the nozzle can also be located within the penthouse and directly on top of the fan housing, as in a standard system. The bypass is commonly ducted to the plenum from an outside opening within the walled structure.

For penthouse applications, the plenum is typically a standard fan plenum, unless required to be customized based on the customer and jobsite needs. For most applications, either a silencer nozzle or a standard nozzle can be selected, as well as a 3 foot or 4 foot outlet inline silencer, which typically is useful for transitioning from the fan housing to the roof. On the roof, will be an upper roof curb and an upper roof base. The upper roof curb is the typical roof curb ordered with our standard fan systems. The upper roof base is the adaption piece utilized to cover the top opening of the curb and therefore seal off any openings on the roof. A cylinder is cut in the middle of the upper roof base for the spool piece to be fed up through for exhausting above the roof line. Whether the spool piece or the nozzle itself is located on the roof, a rain dome is inserted in the center opening to block any rain from entering the building.
